Welcome!
I’m Dr. Alexander Eden, a biology educator, researcher, and storyteller exploring how science is learned, communicated, and experienced. I’m currently an Assistant Professor of Biology at Salem State University, where I teach and study how students connect their identities, languages, and lived experiences to science.
My research investigates how cultural and social capital influence student belonging in STEM and how we can design more inclusive, identity-affirming classrooms. I also lead creative projects that connect science and society: from evolution in pop culture to student employment and persistence in biology.
